In October 1968, a complaint was made to the Home Office about an article entitled ‘Softly Softly’, which appeared in the 15 October 1968 edition of Black Dwarf, a left wing newsheet. Special Branch investigated and sent a report to the Department of Public Prosecutions. The latter replied saying that there had been a case to answer for incitement ahead of the major protest of 27 October 1968, but it was too late to prosecute.
